I think it's about time for some photography!

If you don't know the work of Sally Mann, please please take the time to check it out! Mann produces stunning black and white photographs using a large format camera. Her show The Family and the Land is currently being exhibited at the Photographers' Gallery in London, until mid September, though I'm hoping my partner in crime and I might be able to go and visit it this weekend! I was mortified that I missed her talk when the show opened in June, sadly it was due to my own stupidity- I thought it was in July, so missed out on getting tickets.

Mann was rocketed to prominence with her body of work, Immediate Family (1984-1994) an intense series of intimate portraits of her three, then young, children. The work was considered controversial due to her unique portrayal of children.

Her books are captivating - (I only actually own Immediate Family, this is possibly a situation I may need to rectify!) so I can only imagine how beautiful her prints will be in real life. I've actually got a renewed sense of excited at the thought of going to see the show! If you would like to see the work yourself, the Photographers' Gallery is situated on Ramillies Street, just off Oxford Street. Though be warned- it's closed on a Monday... I've made that mistake before!

Sadly I currently lack the funds for such frivolities (I'm currently living at home and we have a multitude of mugs)- but the chintz floral design is just so appealing. Both are available on the John Lewis website- not a shop I frequent, but perhaps I should to find such beautiful floral finds? Sadly the only item that might currently fit in my price range, the individual Brompton Rose mug was a little disappointing. I shall just have to hope I suddenly come into money- that, or start an early Christmas list!

This is the first time I've tried to make rings- so I would love your opinion! This rose ring will be available in cream, pale pink and coral pink.

These are custom pieces I've just finished for Katie. She wanted a variation on the Abigail bracelet- with additional charms, including the letters K and E. I've always found it really difficult finding attractive letter charms that don't cost the earth, but it's a popular request for custom pieces. I'm actually really pleased with these though. I've just emailed her- so here's to hoping they go down well! x

Yesterday my course- BA (hons) Photographic Art had our book launch for our Publication, Present. There have been a few 'binding' issues (so we should be receiving the rest of the books in the next week or so) however last night was lovely, with a great turn out at Chapter, Cardiff. Other than the binding issues, I think we're all might pleased with out achievements. I apologise profusely for the awful quality of these photos, but I only had a crappy little point and shoot camera with me. We had an over run made of all our individual sections of the book, allowing us to have promotional copies to give to people (of influence, hopefully!). I previously featured Crown and Glory in an earlier post, but I'm not sure if I mentioned that as well as purchasing the stunning poppy head band (pictures possibly to follow...) I also won their facebook competition! Once they got to their first 100 fans, they were giving away a butterfly head band- but were only entering people who had suggested friends to the site. (It actually turned out I had a one in eight chance, but that aside, I'm pretty damn pleased as I never win anything!) Having just purchased the poppy head band though, the lovely Sophie let me chose a butterfly hair clip instead- which makes it just that little bit more versatile for moving around my hair! I wouldn't normally say that I'm much of a butterfly person, but I absolutely love this and have been wearing it non-stop since I got it. I'm pretty un-photogenic so avoid being in front of the camera like the plague- but this was forcibly taken when I was attacked with cameras from either side by friends. I quite like it though- probably because I can't see my face. (This is quite possibly the first time you've seen a photo of me..... this is what I look like... hah)
