Chinoiserie Across the Pond

Sally Homan, design director of Robertson Lindsay Ltd. in Edinburgh, Scotland emailed me about some recent Chinoiserie projects of hers. It was great fun to see Chinoiserie used in these spaces in a Fife, Scotland farmhouse, an Edinburgh, Scotland apartment, and a chateau in Bordeaux, France. Note the use of Chinese Chippendale chairs, animal prints, and iconic Chinoiserie wallpapers.

The next three photos are also brilliant examples of not being afraid to use large scale wallpaper in small rooms. It doesn't make these small rooms look smaller, in fact, it makes them look quite grand. For more of her work visit her website here.

A trend I have noticed in Chinoiserie that you see in the two dining rooms here is Chinese Chippendale chairs in classic white or black. More on this in a post later this week.
